7th Pay Commission Allowances: Lavasa Committee on Allowances Submits Report to Jaitley. This is the final and good news for all central government employee and pensioners. Committee on Allowances is reviewing about allowances recommendation given by 7th CPC panel. This committee submitted its report to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday. The report will now be examined by an empowered group of secretaries after which it will be taken up by the Union Cabinet, said a senior government official. In June 2016, after implementation of 7th Pay Commission by central government, Jaitley had announced the Arun Lavasa panel to examine allowances recommended by 7th CPC panel. This panel has to submit this report by October 2016. But this committee has submitted report this Thursday.

This committee is working with Finance Secretary and Secretary (Expenditure), M/o Finance, Government of India and had Secretaries of Home Affairs, Defense, Health & Family Welfare, Personnel & Training, Post and Chairman, Railway Board as its Members and Joint Secretary.

The review committee on allowances was asked to review the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, especially on reducing the house rent allowance (HRA) to 24 percent of basic pay as against the 30 percent of basic pay government employees, which is given in Sixth Pay Commission.

The committee was also asked to examine the 7th Pay Commission recommendation for abolition of 53 allowances out of a total of 196 and subsuming another 36 into larger existing ones.

If Lavasa panel suggested existing HRA rates as per 6th Pay Commission then HRA of CG employee will increase ranging between 157% to 178% as per media news.

Now, this report being examined in the department of expenditure, Ministry of Finance and put for the approval of the cabinet.
